The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 3.3.127; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

कंसारेर् विरह-ज्वरोर्म�-जनित-ज्वालावली-जर्जरा
गोपा� शै�-तट� तथ� शिथिलि�-श्वासाङ्कुरा� शेरत� �
वारं वारम� अखर्�-लोचन-जलैर� आप्लाव्य तान् निश्चलान�
शोचन्त्य� अद्य यथ� चिरं परिच�-स्निग्धा� कुरङ्ग� अप� ॥३.�.१२७॥

kaṃsārer viraha-jvarormi-janita-ᱹ屹ī-ᲹᲹ
gopā� śaila-taṭe tathā śithilita-śvāsāṅkurā� śerate |
vāram akharva-locana-jalair āplāvya tān niścalān
śocanty adya yathā cira� paricaya-snigdhā� kuraṅgā api

English translation

Death-like state:
“O enemy of ṃs! Worn out with the pain arising from the waves of fever of separation, the cowherd boys have fallen down on the plateau of Govardhan and are breathing only slightly. Just as people lament with tears in their eyes when they see that an acquaintance has fallen into difficulty, today the deer lament for them, soaking their motionless bodies with their profuse tears.�
