Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu

The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.1.195; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

तत्र द्वि�-सर्गाद�-कर्तृत्व�, यथ� �
आसीच् छायाद्वितीयः प्रथमम� अथ विभुर् वत्स-डिम्भादि-देहान्
अंशेनांशेन चक्र� तद� अन� बह�-चतुर�-बाहुता� तेषु तेने �
वृत्तस� तत्त्वाद�-वीतैर् अथ कम� अलभवैः स्तूयमानो’खिलात्म�
तावद� ब्रह्माण्ड-सेव्यः स्फुटम� अजनि तत� यः प्रपद्ये तम� ईशम् ॥२.�.१९५॥

tatra dviya-sargādi-kartṛtva�, yathā �
āsīc chāyādvitīya� prathamam atha vibhur vatsa-ḍi徱-
aṃśenāṃśena cakre tad anu bahu-catur-bāhutā� teṣu tene |
ṛtٲ tattvādi-vītair atha kam alabhavai� stūyamāno’khilātmā
tāvad brahmāṇḍa-sevya� sphuṭam ajani tato ya� prapadye tam īśam
||2.1.195||

English translation

An example of His extraordinary role in creating and destroying the universes:

“I surrender to that Lord, the soul of all, who first was alone, then produced forms of the calves and boys by a part of a part of Himself, then spread Himself in those forms as four-handed forms of վṣṇ, and then was surrounded by Brahmās and others along with the elements, and was praised and served by all the ī in the universe. �
