Medh膩tithi鈥檚 commentary (manubh膩峁a):
鈥�Craftsmen鈥欌赌� such as cooks, weavers, and the like; the occupations of these are cooking, weaving and so forth. By these, 鈥�he may subsist.鈥�
鈥�Danger to wife and sons鈥欌赌�i.e., incapability of maintaining them.
This shows that Handicrafts are very low occupations, since even for the 艢奴诲谤补 these have been permitted only when all other property is lost and the man is in dire distress.鈥�(99)
