क्षत्त्र्युग्रपुक्कसानां तु बिलौकोवधबन्धनम� �
धिग्वणानां चर्मकार्यं वेणाना� भाण्डवादनम� � ४९ �kṣattryugrapukkasānā� tu bilaukovadhabandhanam |
dhigvaṇānā� carmakārya� veṇānā� bhāṇḍavādanam || 49 ||For ṣaٳṛs, Ugras and Pukkasas, the killing and catching of animals living underground; for ٳṇa, work in leather; and for ձṇa the beating of drums.�(49)
Medhātithi’s commentary (manubhāṣya):
�Animals living underground’ĔSnakes, mangoose, the �gargara’�fish, and so forth;—�the killing and catch ing� of these is the livelihood of the ṣaٳ� and the rest.
�Working in leather�;—the sewing of armour and other things, shoe-making and so forth.
�Beating of drums’Ĕsuch as the Muraja, the ĀܰᲹ and the rest.
