Medh膩tithi鈥檚 commentary (manubh膩峁a):
For the 艢奴诲谤补 there is no irregular wife of the 鈥榓scending鈥� degree.
This is only a reiteration of what has been said before.
鈥�Other sons born of her shall be entitled to equal shares.鈥�
It is in view of there being no fifth caste that, the text has said that 鈥榝or the 艢奴诲谤补 there is a wife of the same caste, and no other.鈥欌赌�(157)
Explanatory notes by Ganganath Jha
This Verse is quoted in 痴颈惫腻诲补谤补迟苍腻办补谤补 (p. 532);鈥攁nd in 厂尘峁泃颈迟补迟迟惫补 II (p. 193), which quotes and accepts the explanation given by Kull奴ka that this is meant to preclude the 鈥榓dditional share鈥� prescribed in the preceding verse.
