tapas 迟惫补峁� tapa etena tava siddhir 产丑补惫颈峁补迟颈
tvam鈥携辞耻; tapa 迟补辫补岣�鈥攎ust perform austerity; etena鈥攂y chanting this mantra; tava鈥携辞耻谤; 蝉颈诲诲丑颈岣�鈥攄别蝉颈谤别诲 perfection; 产丑补惫颈峁补迟颈鈥攚ill be achieved.

In this half 艣濒辞办补 beginning with the words tapas tvam, instruction is being given on how austerity should be performed; that is, by the aforementioned method. According to the Third Canto of 艢谤墨尘补诲-叠丑腻驳补惫补迟补尘, 叠谤补丑尘腻j墨 heard the sixteenth and twenty-first consonants of the alphabet, namely ta and pa, combined to make the word tapa. Upon hearing this, he began to meditate on 叠丑补驳补惫腻苍 with one-pointed attention. At that time, by the mercy of 叠丑补驳补惫腻苍, he heard the supreme monarch of mantras, the 办峁涐梗峁嘺-尘补苍迟谤补, spoken by the transcendental 厂补谤补蝉惫补迟墨.
Goddess 厂补谤补蝉惫补迟墨 said,
鈥淥 叠谤补丑尘腻, perform austerity by repeating this mantra with the utmost diligence. Thus all your heart鈥檚 desires will be fulfilled.鈥�
