Tevar.鈥擜bout three miles from Gop膩lpurgh膩峁�, on the banks of the Narmad膩, lies a rather small village called Tevar. In old times it was known by the name Tripur墨. IUn the Aprabhra峁兣沘 language Tripur墨 became Tevar. Why it was called Tripur墨 is related in the 艢e墨madbh膩gavata and a couple of pur膩峁嘺s. In former times tihs was the captial of the kings of the Kalacur墨 family.

T膿var (喈む瘒喈掂喁�) is another name for Valluvar (or Thiruvalluvar)鈥攁n Indian poet and philosopher. He is best known as the author of the Tirukku峁焌岣�, a collection of couplets on ethics, political and economic matters, and love. The text is considered an exceptional and widely cherished work of Tamil literature. Thiruvalluvar (or T膿var) is believed to have lived at least in the town of Mylapore (a neighbourhood of the present-day Chennai), and his floruit is dated variously from fourth century BCE to early fifth century CE, based on the traditional accounts and the linguistic analyses of his writings.
