Source: Wisdom Library: Kath膩sarits膩gara艢谤墨驳补谤产丑补 (啶多啶班啶椸ぐ啷嵿き) is the name of a merchant from V膩r膩峁嘺s墨, according to the Kath膩sarits膩gara, chapter 37. Accordingly, as Somasv膩min narrated to Ni艣cayadatta: 鈥�... when I was at this stage of my life the youthful Bandhudatt膩, the daughter of the merchant 艢谤墨驳补谤产丑补, an inhabitant of that city, and the wife of the great merchant of Mathur膩, Var膩hadatta, who was dwelling in her father鈥檚 house, beheld me one day as she was looking out of the window鈥�.
The story of 艢谤墨驳补谤产丑补 was narrated by Gomukha in order to demonstrate that 鈥渋t is true that chaste women are few and far between, but unchaste women are never to be trusted鈥�.
The Kath膩sarits膩gara (鈥榦cean of streams of story鈥�), mentioning 艢谤墨驳补谤产丑补, is a famous Sanskrit epic story revolving around prince Narav膩hanadatta and his quest to become the emperor of the 惫颈诲测腻诲丑补谤补蝉 (celestial beings). The work is said to have been an adaptation of Gu峁嚹佱笉hya鈥檚 B峁沨atkath膩 consisting of 100,000 verses, which in turn is part of a larger work containing 700,000 verses.
