Vedanta (school of philosophy)
: Wikisource: Ashtavakra GitaԾ (सर्वनिर्माता) refers to the “creator of all things� (i.e., Īśvara), according to the Aṣṭāvakragītā (5th century BC), an ancient text on spirituality dealing with Advaita-Vedānta topics.—Accordingly, [as Aṣṭavakra says to Janaka]: “Unmoved and undistressed, realising that being, non-being and transformation are of the very nature of things, one easily finds peace. At peace, having shed all desires within, and realising that nothing exists here but the Lord, the Creator of all things (Ծ) [īśvara� Ծ nehānya iti niścayī], one is no longer attached to anything. [...]�.

Vedanta (वेदान्�, vedānta) refers to a school of orthodox Hindu philosophy (astika), drawing its subject-matter from the Upanishads. There are a number of sub-schools of Vedanta, however all of them expound on the basic teaching of the ultimate reality (brahman) and liberation (moksha) of the individual soul (atman).
