: Journal of South Asian Intellectual History: Samarasi峁僪a and the Early Transmission of T膩jika Astrology厂补峁僺办峁泃补艣补产诲补 (啶膏啶膏啶曕啶むざ啶啶�) refers to the 鈥淪anskrit language鈥�, according to the first chapter of the 贬腻测补苍补谤补迟苍补鈥攁 nibandha or meta-commentary drawing on many important expositions of T膩jika or Perso-Arabic astrology.鈥擜ccordingly, 鈥淭he word T膩jika denotes the treatise composed by Yavan膩c膩rya in the Persian language, comprising one area of astrology and having for its outcome the prediction of the various kinds of results of annual [horoscopy] and so on. That same treatise was rendered into the Sanskrit language (蝉补峁僺办峁泃补艣补产诲补-耻辫补苍颈产补诲诲丑补) by those born after him, Samarasi峁僪a and other Brahmans versed in grammar, and that [work], too, is denoted by the word T膩jika鈥�.
