: Ancient Science of Life: Botanical identification of plants described in Mādhava CikitsāPañcamūli (पञ्चमूलि) or Pañcamūlikā refers to a group of five medicinal plants used in the treatment of پ (diarrhoea), according to the 7th century Mādhavacikitsā chapter 2. Atisāra refers to a condition where there are three or more loose or liquid stools (bowel movements) per day or more stool than normal. The second chapter of the Mādhavacikitsā explains several preparations [including Pañcamūli] through 60 Sanskrit verses about treating this problem.

- ṛhī: Solanum indicum L.
- ṇṭī: Solanum xanthocarpum Schrad. & Wendl.

: Notices of Sanskrit Manuscripts: Volume 12 (1898) (ay)Pañcamūlī (पञ्चमूली) or Pañcamūlyādi-yoga refers to one of the topics discussed in the ۴Dz峾ṛt, a Sanskrit manuscript collected in volume 4 of the catalogue “Notices of Sanskrit Manuscripts (first series)� by Rajendralal Mitra (1822�1891), who was one of the first English-writing historians dealing with Indian culture and heritage.—The ۴Dz峾ṛt is a large Ayurvedic compilation dealing with the practice of medicine and therapeutics authored by Gopāla Sena, Kavirāja, of Dvārandhā. It is dated to the 18th century and contains 11,700 śǰ첹.—The catalogue includes the term—Pañcamūlī-ādi-yoga in its ‘subject-matter list� or Viṣaya (which lists topics, chapters and technical terms). The complete entry reads: (1) 貹ñū徱Dz� (2) 貹ñū徱峦Բ� (3) Dz,—pñū徱—kٳ徱Dz� .
