2) Navaratnas (啶ㄠさ啶班い啷嵿え啶膏).鈥擫egend says that there were nine scholars who handled philosophy and arts, in the palace of the emperor Vikram膩ditya. These nine scholars were known by the name Navaratnas (the nine jewels). They were Dhanvantari, K峁pa峁嘺ka, Amarasi峁僪a, 艢a峁卥u, Vet膩labha峁弓a, Gha峁璦karpara, K膩lid膩sa, Var膩hamihira and Vararuci.
The Purana (啶啶班ぞ啶�, pur膩峁嘺s) refers to Sanskrit literature preserving ancient India鈥檚 vast cultural history, including historical legends, religious ceremonies, various arts and sciences. The eighteen mahapuranas total over 400,000 shlokas (metrical couplets) and date to at least several centuries BCE.
