Purana and Itihasa (epic history)
: Cologne Digital Sanskrit Dictionaries: The Purana IndexLaghvi (लघà¥à¤µà¤).—A sage.*
- * Matsya-purÄṇa 196. 28.

The Purana (पà¥à¤°à¤¾à¤, purÄṇas) refers to Sanskrit literature preserving ancient India’s vast cultural history, including historical legends, religious ceremonies, various arts and sciences. The eighteen mahapuranas total over 400,000 shlokas (metrical couplets) and date to at least several centuries BCE.
Shaktism (Shakta philosophy)
: Google Books: Manthanabhairavatantram³¢²¹²µ³ó±¹Ä« (लघà¥à¤µà¥€) (or LaghvikÄ) is another name for KubjikÄ.—The manner in which Himavat refers to his third daughter as the youngestâ€±ô²¹²µ³ó±¹Ä«²â²¹²õī—reminds us of one of KubjikÄ’s names, that is, LaghvikÄ. This name is amongst the earliest ones of the goddess KubjikÄ but becomes rare quite early on in the later literature. Indeed, it does not occur at all in the KumÄrikÄkhaṇá¸a. However, in the lines the ÅšrÄ«matottara has in common with the KubjikÄmatatantra, there is a tendency to use the name LaghvikÄ / ³¢²¹²µ³ó±¹Ä« instead of KubjikÄ / KubjinÄ« / KubjÄ«. So, although ±ô²¹²µ³ó±¹Ä«²â²¹²õÄ« is best understood to be an adjective meaning ‘youngestâ€, rather than a proper name, there is probably an intended suggestion here of KubjikÄ’s other name.
Note: The rule (samaya) common to all is the seed-syllable ³¢²¹²µ³ó±¹Ä« (Yogakhaṇá¸, 2nd recension: Laká¹£mÄ«), (otherwise called) Mahotsava.
: Shodhganga: Saudarya Lahari of Sri Sankara A Study³¢²¹²µ³ó±¹Ä« (लघà¥à¤µà¥€) refers to one of the 56 rays of the MÅ«lÄdhÄra-Cakra which (together with the 52 rays of the Svadhiá¹£á¹hÄna) are associated with the fiery plane called Rudragranthi, according to Åšaá¹…karÄcÄrya’s SaudaryalaharÄ«.—Accordingly, the Goddess is visualised (by SÄdhaka) as dwelling above the six Ä€dhÄracakras ruling over the 360 rays which emanate in them [e.g., ³¢²¹²µ³ó±¹Ä«]. These 360 rays represent 360 syllables (i.e., a consummation of the Å›²¹²ú»å²¹±è°ù²¹±è²¹Ã±³¦²¹ or 50 alphabets) as well as the principles of nature. For the 360 syllables, together with ³ó²¹á¹ and ²õ²¹á¸, NyÄsa should be performed for ÅšrÄ«cakrapÅ«jÄ.

Shakta (शाकà¥à¤, Å›Äkta) or Shaktism (Å›Äktism) represents a tradition of Hinduism where the Goddess (Devi) is revered and worshipped. Shakta literature includes a range of scriptures, including various Agamas and Tantras, although its roots may be traced back to the Vedas.

Sanskrit, also spelled संसà¥à¤•ृतमà¥ (²õ²¹á¹ƒs°ìá¹›t²¹³¾), is an ancient language of India commonly seen as the grandmother of the Indo-European language family (even English!). Closely allied with Prakrit and Pali, Sanskrit is more exhaustive in both grammar and terms and has the most extensive collection of literature in the world, greatly surpassing its sister-languages Greek and Latin.
