: archive.org: The Elephant Lore of the Hindusṛṣṇānٲ (कृष्णान्�) refers to a “black-tipped (palate)� (of elephants), according to the 15th century ٲṅgī composed by Nīlakaṇṭha in 263 Sanskrit verses, dealing with elephantology in ancient India, focusing on the science of management and treatment of elephants.—[Cf. chapter 5, “on marks of the stages of life”]: �5. Deep red in the 岵 and Ծṣkś, averse to milk, stout in the proha and ṃdԲ, fond of (eating) grass, with black-tipped palate (ṛṣṇānٲ-), broad, with tusks projecting somewhat (from their sockets), in the fourth year he is a barbara�.
