Source: Wisdom Library: Jyoti峁骋谤补丑补辫耻谤腻峁嘺 (啶椸啶班す啶啶班ぞ啶�) refers to the 鈥�辫耻谤腻峁嘺 of planets鈥� and is the name of the thirtieth chapter of the G膩rg墨ya箩测辞迟颈峁. The G膩rg墨ya箩测辞迟颈峁 is one of the most comprehensive of Garga鈥檚 texts and written in the form of a dialogue between Krau峁ａ弓uki (峁氠梗iputra) and Garga discussing astral and other omens, comprising a total of sixty-two chapters (viz., graha-辫耻谤腻峁嘺), known as 补峁単补蝉 and summarized in the A峁単asamuddi艣a (鈥渆numeration of the divisions鈥�, introductory portion).
Jyotisha (啶溹啶啶むた啶�, 箩测辞迟颈峁 or jyotish) refers to 鈥榓stronomy鈥� or 鈥淰edic astrology鈥� and represents the fifth of the six Vedangas (additional sciences to be studied along with the Vedas). Jyotisha concerns itself with the study and prediction of the movements of celestial bodies, in order to calculate the auspicious time for rituals and ceremonies.
