: archive.org: Jaina YogaGilo墨 (啶椸た啶侧啶�) in Prakrit and Gu岣嵟玞墨 in Sanskrit refers to the plant Tinospera cordifolia Miers. This plant is classifed as 补苍补苍迟补-办腻测补, or 鈥減lants that are inhabited by an infinite number of living organisms鈥�, and therefore are abhak峁a (forbidden to consume) according to both Nemicandra (in his Pravacana-s膩roddh膩ra v245-246) and Hemacandra (in his Yoga艣膩stra 3.44-46). Those plants which are classified as 补苍补苍迟补-办腻测补s (e.g., 驳颈濒辞墨) seem to be chosen because of certain morphological peculiarities such as the possession of bulbs or rhizomes orthe habit of periodically shedding their leaves; and in general theyare characterized by possibilities of vegetative reproduction.
