N墨laka峁囜弓ha Somay膩jin enjoins that only such astronomical treatises should be followed which agree with actual observations. While astronomical texts of different genres like the Siddh膩ntas, Kara峁嘺s and Ko峁ａ弓hakas help the astronomer to mathematically compute the planetary positions, he has to verify them through direct observation with astronomical instruments (yantras).
