Source: Wisdom Library: Jyoti峁叠丑腻谤驳补惫补蝉补峁僺迟丑腻苍补 (啶ぞ啶班啶椸さ啶膏啶膏啶ムぞ啶�) refers to the 鈥渁ppearance of Venus鈥� and is the name of the fifty-first chapter of the G膩rg墨ya箩测辞迟颈峁. The G膩rg墨ya箩测辞迟颈峁 is one of the most comprehensive of Garga鈥檚 texts and written in the form of a dialogue between Krau峁ａ弓uki (峁氠梗iputra) and Garga discussing astral and other omens, comprising a total of sixty-two chapters (viz., 产丑腻谤驳补惫补-蝉补峁僺迟丑腻苍补), known as 补峁単补蝉 and summarized in the A峁単asamuddi艣a (鈥渆numeration of the divisions鈥�, introductory portion).
Jyotisha (啶溹啶啶むた啶�, 箩测辞迟颈峁 or jyotish) refers to 鈥榓stronomy鈥� or 鈥淰edic astrology鈥� and represents the fifth of the six Vedangas (additional sciences to be studied along with the Vedas). Jyotisha concerns itself with the study and prediction of the movements of celestial bodies, in order to calculate the auspicious time for rituals and ceremonies.
