(a) as mode of time (past, present & future) in tayo addhÄ three divisions of time (atita, anÄgata, paccuppanna) D.III, 216; It.53, 70. Pali is the language of the Tipiį¹aka, which is the sacred canon of TheravÄda Buddhism and contains much of the Buddhaās speech. Closeley related to Sanskrit, both languages are used interchangeably between religions.
