Essay name: Tilakamanjari of Dhanapala (study)

This is an English study of the Tilakamanjari of Dhanapala, a Sanskrit poem written in the 11th century. Technically, the Tilaka-manjari is classified as a Gadyakavya (“prose-romance�). The author, Dhanapala was a court poet to the Paramara king Munja, who ruled the Kingdom of Malwa in ancient west-central India.

where the whole series is based on Sabhanga-slega necessia-
ting the adjectives to be broken up as 'Nāgavat-lilā-alasā�'
with 'Dhanaszakė 'Dhanina�' and 'Nāgavalli-lālasā�' with
'Udyānapālā�', and so on.
(13) DĪPAKA (COMMON PAIRING)
A few instances of a variety of the figure of
speech called Dipaka are noteworthy. Thus, the advice of
King Meghavahana to Prince Harivahana about Samaraketu is
given in this mode of expression, as in :
अन्वहं चायमापत्स्वपरिहारे�, संपत्स्वाद रातिशयेन, समानगुणे�
गौरवात्कर्षे�, विवादेषु पाग्रहणे�, नूतनार्थलाभेषु संविभजने� नर्म-
