Sri Subramaniaswamy Temple
Sri Subramaniaswamy temple at Perumbairkandigai village is standing on a hillock covers an area of 2 acres and was built by the villagers about 500 years ago. Sage Arunagirinathar has visited the temple. The Moolavar which is four feet high has six faces and His two consorts Valli and Deivayanai are installed on either side. The Moolavar is facing south which is unique since in no other temple is he facing this direction. From the six acres of lands owned by it, it gets a substantial annual income. The other items of income are from hundies and from archanai and deeparadhanai. The pay of the Gurukkal and the expenditure on festivals are met out of the above income. It has no jewels or vahanam. The hereditary Gurukkal who is paid a monthly salary performs two poojas daily. On all Kirthigai days in every month devotees visit the temple in large numbers. The Brahmothsavam is celebrated in Vaikasi when 400 people congregate. A single trustee is managing its affairs.[1]
