The question whether music requires lyrics at all, can perhaps never be answered satisfactorily, but in Indian Music, more particularly in South Indian Music; the Lyric plays an equally important role as the music or the tune. The South Indian Music composers packed their music with elements of high devotion so much so that the emotive spirit of the lyrics go hand in hand with the music, thus transporting the listener to a different world altogether. Added to this, was the ambience that was provided for the Music performance.
