Contents: Rules regarding mourning; expiations and aliment; rice cooked by Sudras, forbidden as food for Brahmans; effect of certain conjunctions during particular days of the moon's age; vessels of particular metals recommended to be used when eating while facing particular quarters; duties before meals; purification of houses rendered impure by corpses and other offensive objects; the worship of Bhadrakali and other divinities in the month of Vais'akha; rules for the celebration of a ceremony called Annantavrata, on the 14 th of the waxing moon in the month of Bhadra; do. of the Rohinivrata, on the 9 th of the waxing moon in the same month; praise of particular forms of sacrificial knives; proper mode of sacrificing animals; prognostications from the flow of blood from the carcass of sacrificed animals; adoration of Durga; celebration of the ceremony called Gaurivrata; mantra for saluting the wag-tail (motacilla alba); mantra for offering oblations of water to the manes on the 8 th of the waxing moon in the month of Magha; salutary verses called Mangalashtaka; origin of the Mandara mountain.
