flows and it is through this the Kundalini Sakti rises up
in a straight line upward along the line of the vertebral
column of the body which is situated in the midline.
According to some Pauranik account, at the commence-
ment of creation Brahma wakes. The Samskaras then arise
from his mind. There arises the Desire to create (Iccha-
Sakti); then the knowledge (Jnan-sakti) of what He is about
to creat, and lastly, the Action (Kriya) of creation. In
the case of Jiva the order is Jnana, Iccha, Kriya. The three
powers are, though counted and spoken of as arising separa-
tely and indivisible aspects of the One (SP-Woodroffe, p.202).
According to one nomenclature the Supreme Bindu
becomes threefold as Bindu (Karya), Bija, Nada. Though Siva
is never separate from Sakti, nor Sakti from Siva, a
manifestation may predominantly signify one or another. So
it is said that Bindu is in the nature of Siva and Bija
of Sakti and Nada is the combination of the two. These
are also called Mahabindu (Farabindu), Sitabindu (white
Bindu), Somabindu ( Red Bindu), and Misra-bindu (Mixed
Bindu) (SP-Woodroffe, p.202).
There is another nomenclature
-
viz. Sun, Fire,
Moon. There is no question but that Bija is Moon, that
from Bija issues the Sakti, Vama from whom comes Brahma,
who are in the nature of Moon and Will Power (Iccha-Sakti)
(Sarada Tilaka,ch.I) Iccha-Sakti in terms of Gunas of
Prakriti is Rajas, Guna, which impells Sattva to self-
