This study deals with the presentation of the Nervous System in Yoga, Tantra and Ayurveda. Yoga and Ayurveda are allied sciences dealing with science of man in depth. This study has revealed a number of hither to unknown facts about concept of nervous system and thought science of Hindus.

brain and the other from the brain to the outer body
(Vivekananda, 1976, p.54). So we infer safely that ultimately
the nerves have two sets of action, centripetal known as
negative to positive polarity and centrifugal is positive
to negative polarity. It is through them the vital current
flows all over the body. Once these two directional flows
are stopped, the prana only remains which is known as "Qi"
in the chinese medical science (mann, F.1973).
It is mentionable here that, Swami Vivekananda
said in his book on Raja-yoga that where he is not clear
or confident about the subject matter, he will mention
them as books or Shastra says (p.15) and yogis say or
according to yogis (p.53). Further it is also notable that
a practical yogi like him even could not give the actual
location of Ida, Pingala and Sushumna.
Above we find in one place he mentioned that
Susumna is in the central canal of the spinal card. In
another place he said nature requires no wire to send
tremendous currents. Another place he said, Kundalini
rises up through the spinal column.
Again he mentioned the Mind has made this network
of the Nervous system, and has to break it, so that no
wires will be required to work through. Then alow knowledge
come to use - no more bondage of the body, that is why
it is so important that we should get control of that
