This page relates ‘Knowledge of Kamashastra (Sex and Erotics) in the Shishupalavadha� of the study on the Shishupala-vadha (in English) in the light of Manusamhita (law and religious duties) and Arthashastra (science of politics and warfare). The Shishupalavadha is an epic poem (Mahakavya) written by Magha in the 7th century AD. It consists of 1800 Sanskrit verses spread over twenty chapters and narrates the details of the king of the Chedis.

Knowledge of Kāmaśāstra (Sex and Erotics) in the Śiśupālavadha
Poet 岵 was aware of sexology. He discussed about heroine and their different sexual stages. In the whole tenth canto different beheaviours of lascivious ladies have been sketched.
The poet called the god Madana as �īԲٲԲ� in the thirty eighth verse of the thieteenth canto. (13/38)
�Manasisaya� in the second verse of the seventh canto (7/2).
Բṅg in the thirty fourth verse of the tenth canto (10/24), and ܻܲܳ in the sixty seventh verse of the tenth canto.
“himamukkacandrarucira� sapadmako madayan dvijān janitamīnaketana� |
abhavat prasāditasurā mahītsava� pramadājanasya sa cirāya � ||� 13.38 ||[1]“dadhati sumanasī vanāni vahvīryuvatiyutā ⲹ岹� prayātumīṣu� |
manasiśayamahāstramanyathāmī na kusumapañcakamaṇyala� visoḍhūm ||�7.2 ||[2]“kṣīvatāmupagatāsvanuvela� tāsu roṣaparitoṣavatīṣu |
agrahīnnu saśara� dhanurujphāmāsa nūjjhitaniṣaṅgamanaṅga� ||� 10.34 ||[3]“urumūlacapale kṣaṇamaghnan yervataṃsakusumai� priyametā� |
cakrire sapadi tāni yathārtha� manmathasya kusumāyudhanānāma ||�
Different beheavious of lasacious ladias were described according to vātsāyana by 岵.
“vᲹⲹԳٲ ᲹԲ� saṅgame kāntatastarkayantyā sukhaṃsaṅgame kāntata� ||� 4.42 ||[4]
