This page relates 鈥楶urification and other Rituals Realting to the Rosary of Aksha-beads鈥� of the study on the Shaiva Upanishads in English, comparing them with other texts dealing with the Shiva cult (besides the Agamas and Puranas). The 鲍辫补苍颈峁诲s are ancient philosophical and theological treatises. Out of the 108 Upanishads mentioned in the Muktikopanishad, 15 are classified as Saiva-Upanisads.

16. Purification and other Rituals Realting to the Rosary of A办峁-beads

Subsequently (after intertwining the garland) it should be made sanctified by immersing in the milk of 狈补苍诲腻 etc,. Five species of cows and by rubbing duly with 笔补帽肠补驳补惫测补 (cow urine, cow dung, milk curd and ghee) and further by cleaning with 笔补帽肠补驳补惫测补 (curd of 狈补苍诲腻 etc. Five species of cows). Then, the garland should be soaked into the perfumed water and 鈥�Om鈥� should be recited. The leaves then should fold and made a funnel like and water should be sprinkled on it. The eight kind of scented items (础峁ａ弓补驳补苍诲丑补) i.e Takkola, Usira, Camphor etc should be smeared on it and then enshrined on the Metal 鈥�Manisila鈥�. It should be worshipped with 础办峁迟补 (rice) and flowers. Every bead of the garland should be spelled systematically from the letter 鈥�a鈥� to 办峁.[1] Lastly, 鈥淪alutation is conveyed to the subordinate or dependent powers of the death (惭峁泃测补).
