This page relates ‘Purification and other Rituals Realting to the Rosary of Aksha-beads� of the study on the Shaiva Upanishads in English, comparing them with other texts dealing with the Shiva cult (besides the Agamas and Puranas). The 貹Ծṣas are ancient philosophical and theological treatises. Out of the 108 Upanishads mentioned in the Muktikopanishad, 15 are classified as Saiva-Upanisads.

16. Purification and other Rituals Realting to the Rosary of Aṣa-beads
[...] Aṣamālikā 貹Ծṣa verse 4
Subsequently (after intertwining the garland) it should be made sanctified by immersing in the milk of Ի etc,. Five species of cows and by rubbing duly with ʲñⲹ (cow urine, cow dung, milk curd and ghee) and further by cleaning with ʲñⲹ (curd of Ի etc. Five species of cows). Then, the garland should be soaked into the perfumed water and �Om� should be recited. The leaves then should fold and made a funnel like and water should be sprinkled on it. The eight kind of scented items (ṣṭԻ) i.e Takkola, Usira, Camphor etc should be smeared on it and then enshrined on the Metal �Manisila�. It should be worshipped with ṣaٲ (rice) and flowers. Every bead of the garland should be spelled systematically from the letter �a� to ṣa.[1] Lastly, “Salutation is conveyed to the subordinate or dependent powers of the death (ṛtⲹ). Please, be graceful on us with the Prayer and endow with pleasure to their devotees through this aṣamālikā.
