This page relates ‘Anuprasa (Alliteration)� part of the study on the Satirical works of Kshemendra: an 11th century poet from Kashmir, who composed three satirical works. Kshemendra himself says that in composing the satirical works his only motive is to reform the mindset of the people.—He exposes all the vices and follies prevailing in the society with the intention to reform it.

Գܱ or alliteration is also a śṃk. The alliteration of words to bring about melody in verses is a common tool of poets. Գܱ consists in the harmonic repetition of the same sounds in a verse or in a series of verses by means of the same letters. According to վśٳ , a similarity of sounds, not withstanding a difference in the vowels, is called Գܱ.[1] In the , in the verse yatra trinayananayana[2] ………�.., there is alliteration of the consonants in trinayana and nayana, jvalana and . The verse is an example of Գܱ.[3]

In the ٱśDZ貹ś, in the verse, ᲹԲṇy[4] ………�.., there is the repetition of the consonants in 첹ṅkī and bāla첹ṅkī.

In the , in the verse, sā vācālavācālamālā[5] ………�., there is the repetition of the consonants in vācāla and vācāla, kala and kala. A few more examples of Գܱ are found in the works.[6]
