36. ī incarnation
A legend of ī incarnation of Ś has been found in the Ś Purāṇa. According to this story, ī, the daughter of ᾱⲹ and ѱ, went to the deep forest and performed austere penance for achieving Ś as her husband. Lord Ś wished to test the depth of her devotion. For that purpose, he reached infront of ī taking the form of a ī.[1]
