Historical Elements in the Matsya Purana

This page relates 鈥楽ome King鈥檚 dynasty in Kaliyuga: Dynasty of Ikshvaku鈥� of the study on the historical elements of the Matsya-purana: one of the eighteen Mahapuranas which are Sanskrit texts that have preserved the cultural heritage, philosophy, religion, geography, etc of ancient India. This Matsyapurana was originally written in 20,000 verses and deals with topics such as architecture, ancient history, polity, religion and philosophy.

Some King鈥檚 dynasty in Kaliyuga: Dynasty of 滨办峁腻办耻
The son of S奴ryava峁兣浤� king 叠峁沨补诲产补濒补鈥檚 son B峁沨atk峁ya became the king. B峁沨atk峁ya鈥檚 son was Uruksaya and 鲍谤耻办峁测补鈥檚 son was 鲍谤耻办峁测补 and 鲍谤耻办峁测补鈥檚 son was 痴补迟蝉补惫测奴丑补. Prativyoma was the son of 痴补迟蝉补惫测奴丑补. His son was 顿颈惫腻办补谤补. His capital would be a beautiful city called Ayodhya in the middle country. 顿颈惫腻办补谤补鈥檚 son was Sahadeva and Sahadeva鈥檚 son was 惭补丑腻尘补苍腻 叠峁沨补诲补艣惫补. That 叠峁沨补诲补艣惫补鈥檚 son was 叠丑腻苍耻谤补迟丑补 and 叠丑腻苍耻谤补迟丑补鈥檚 son was Pratipa艣va. Pratip膩艣va鈥檚 son ws 厂耻辫谤补迟墨办补 and 厂耻辫谤补迟墨办补鈥檚 son was Marudeva. Marudeva gaves birth a son named 厂耻苍补办峁迟谤补. 厂耻苍补办峁迟谤补 had a son named 碍颈苍苍补谤腻艣惫补 who satiated the enemies. His son was 础苍迟补谤颈办峁. 础苍迟补谤颈办峁 had a son named 厂耻峁峁嘺 and 厂耻峁峁嘺鈥檚 son was (First) Sumitra. Then Sumitra鈥檚 son was 叠峁沨补诲谤腻箩补 and from 叠峁沨补诲谤腻箩补, Dharmi was born. Dharmi鈥檚 son was Krta帽jaya and his son was Ra峁嘺帽jay. 搁补峁嘺帽箩补测补鈥檚 son was 厂补帽箩补测补 and 厂补帽箩补测补鈥檚 son was 艢腻办测补. He had a son named 艢uddhodana. His son was 厂颈诲诲丑腻谤迟丑补 and Rahul was the sonof 厂颈诲诲丑腻谤迟丑补. From him Prasenjita originated and from Prasenjita 艢udraka was born. 艢udraka鈥檚 son was Kulaka and his son was Suratha. From Suratha, Sumitra (Second) was born. Sumitra (Second) was the last king of this 滨办峁腻办耻 dynaty.[1]
