Historical Elements in the Matsya Purana

Candra Community
There are also some references to the Candra dynasty in the Matsya ±Ê³Ü°ùÄåṇa . For example–Lord ³Õ¾±á¹£á¹‡³Ü is worshiped in the name of Candra in the ¸é´Ç³ó¾±²ÔÄ«³¦²¹²Ô»å°ù²¹Å›²¹²â²¹²Ô²¹ vow (MP-57/3). Candravrata has also been mentioned (MP-101/75). In the Matsya ±Ê³Ü°ùÄåṇa’s 23rd chapter, the birth of Soma is mentioned which is the form of the Candra .
Buddhist
It is noteworthy that the Matsya ±Ê³Ü°ùÄåṇa also considers the Buddha to be an incarnation of Lord ³Õ¾±á¹£á¹‡³Ü. Buddha is mentioned in many chapters of the Matsya ±Ê³Ü°ùÄåṇa (MP-47/247, 54/19, 285/7).
