that the goddess is actually present throughout the ritual. After the elaborate
and detailed process of worship, the goddess is requested to depart to her
own celestial domain after having blessed the worshipper¹73.

The flowers and offerings which were previously offered as part of worship
are known as nirmalya. These nirmalya have to be disinvested of the
divinity which they are associated with. Worship is offered to the
personified deity of nirmalya who is known as Nirmalya-dharaṇ�. The clear
reference to the goddess Nirmalya-dharaṇ� occurs in the KP. The
