classes as is evident from the Brhat Samhita. It is stated that, there exists no
creation of Brahma the creator, which is equal to a woman. She has been
referred to as a gem. It is mentioned that, such a gem in the shape of a
women is the fruit of a person's good deeds and from such a gem a person
obtains sons and pleasures. A woman, therefore, resembles the goddess of
wealth in a family and must be treated with respect and, all her wants must
be satisfied 21. It is further states the divinity of women citing the boons
which they have obtained from the gods. Accordingly, they are blessed with
personal purity by the moon god (Somadeva), the Gandharvas have given to
them pure speech, the fire god (Agni) has given to them the privilege of
eating any kind of food without restrictions. Women therefore are without
