Meaning.
I. Worship.
The verb yaj in Sanskrit means worship. Chitrabhanu Sen quoting the
pūrvamīmamsā has stated that, it is a ceremony in which the offerings or
oblations are dedicated to a deity by relinquishing ones right over it by
saying this is for the deity and not for me'.

The COED² gives the meaning of Worship as the feeling or
expression of reverence and adoration for a deity. It includes religious rites
and ceremonies.
