305 The goddess Manasa is mentioned in the DBP as being
worshipped by chaste women and that she stands highest
among the list of chaste women. Manasā, the snake Goddess
is to be worshipped to get relief from the fear of snakes³
By offering worship to her one gets sons, grandsons, wealth,
grains, increase, the person (worshipper) becomes famous
by themselves, is gratified, becomes learned and is
renowned.
But the one who does not worship Manasa becomes
bereft of Lakṣmi and is always afraid of snakes.
