displays the abhaya-varada gesture.

Goddess Laksmi the icon of all that is prosperous, that is
charming and delighting has a great mass appeal. The different
relative entities as Śrī, Hrī, Bhūti, are taken together for the purpose of
study to understand the goddess in her entirety.
Meaning.
The dictionary meaning of the word Lakṣmi is fortune,
prosperity, wealth. It also means beauty, loveliness, grace, charm,
splendor, lusture. It further mentions it to be the name of the wife of
վṣṇ.
In fact the goddess Laksmi is a combination of all the above
mentioned words either as meaning or as her attribute.
