There are two gayatris preserved which show the identity of
the different goddess belonging to the same group-

(i) The gāyatrī in the Maitrayani Samhitā¹50 shows Gauri
and Girisutā were regarded as the same goddess.
151 (ii) In the Taittriya Aranyaka¹¹ mentions that Kätyāyanī
and Kanyakumārī and Durgī as identical goddesses.
The Hir.Gr.152 after propitiating the eight forms of Rudra,
mentions the oblations for the wives of the eight forms as -
