chapter II Major goddesses 179 and Sarasvati 338. Gangā curses Sarasvati to change into a river and
descend on the earth and take the sins of the sinners, sim/larly she
says to Sarasvati that since she presides over speech, she therefore
always likes to remain with quarrels. She further calls Sarasvati as
wicked and foul-mouthed women. Viṣṇu arrives later and takes
Sarasvati in his breast.
According to the MP, the goddess Sarasvati is said to be
the tongue of Viṣnu³39, in fact she is the tongue of every one and
functions as the speech of every one.

The great Indian patriot and poet Subramania Bhārati in his
collection of songs in Tamil states the goddess to be residing in the
following on a white lotus, in the tongue of the parrot, in the
nonsensical prattle of the child, in the assembly of the learned and so
on

Independent temples are dedicated to the goddess Sarasvati
at Sringeri in Karnataka, where she is known as sharada. There she
alone is the presiding deity and her spouse is not seen in the vicinity.
