Snakes have held the fascination of mankind since long. The general feeling of men to these reptiles is of fear and the reverence and adoration is fear generaed. In the purana two snake mothers are refered to. One is Kadru,the wife of Kasyapa prajapati and the other is Manasa the mind born daughter of Kasyapa prajapati. Kadru. From the Puranas like the Garuda, the Vayu etc...we come to know that Kadru is the wife of the Prajapati Kasyapa. It is from her that the reptiles particularly the snakes have originated.
