The essay studies the ancillary literature of the Atharva-Veda with special reference to the Parisistas. It does so by understanding the socio-cultural and philosophical aspects of ancient Indian life. The Atharvaveda addresses encompasses all practical aspects of life from health and prosperity to rituals and sorcery.

anekārthah and are added to the usual list of nighantavah.
This Parisista has incorporated some Nirukta-matter also
(sections 132-148) which is in a form closely related to Yaska.
The following table will show the ganas in the Nighantu
of Kautsavya which are similar to those of Yaska.
