ś gives upanidhi and Բ as terms denoting a deposit. ṣīr峾 adds Ծṣe貹 as another synonym. He also quotes ñⲹṛt (II. 65) which brings out the differences in the nature of the deposits represented by these terms. A ccording to ñⲹṛt, upanidhi means a deposit of a sealed object with cloth with another person without disclosing the object within.
While Բ is to proclaim the object deposited thus and Ծṣe貹 is the object deposited with the skilled artisan for repair:
Ծṣe'pi | smārte tveṣāṃ bhedo'sti�
vāsanasthamanākhyāya haste'nyasya yadarpyate |
dravyamupanidhirԲ� śⲹ sthapitam yat |
śilpihaste tu Ծṣe ṇḍ� saṃskartumarpita� |
ⲹ� tadaupanidhika� pratideya� tathaiva tat |
(b) ʰپԲ (II. 9. 81; p. 218)�
[Return of deposit:]
ṣīr峾 explains پԲ as the return of the deposit to the depositor.
He also observes that some denote it as 貹Բ:
(c) Arthaprayoga (II. 9. 4; p. 201)�
ś gives words denoting an usury�arthaprayoga, ܲī岹 and ṛdī첹 and from explanation of the word ṛdī첹 one can infer that interest was charged, but ṣīr峾 remark’s collecting such interest was an act of contempt�
ṛd� garhyā� prayacchati vārdhūṣika� |
ṣīr峾 also adds ṛdī and 屹ṇi첹 to denote an usury signifying one who lives on interest.
He further mentions that the interest is ṛd, or 첹Գٲ�
