Story of ³Õ²¹¾±Å›²¹³¾±èÄå²â²¹²Ô²¹
General information.
A prominent disciple of ³Õ²âÄå²õ²¹. It is mentioned in DevÄ« BhÄgavata, Skandha 1, that the main disciples of ³Õ²âÄå²õ²¹ were Asita, Devala, ³Õ²¹¾±Å›²¹³¾±èÄå²â²¹²Ô²¹, Sumantu, Jaimini, Paila and some others. (See under µþ³óÄå°ù²¹³Ù²¹).
Other details.
(i) It was ³Õ²¹¾±Å›²¹³¾±èÄå²â²¹²Ô²¹ who told the story of µþ³óÄå°ù²¹³Ù²¹ composed by ³Õ²âÄå²õ²¹, to King Janamejaya. (²Ñ²¹³óÄå²ú³óÄå°ù²¹³Ù²¹ Ä€»å¾± Parva, Chapter 1, Stanza 20).
(ii) ³Õ²¹¾±Å›²¹³¾±èÄå²â²¹²Ô²¹ told Janamejaya the story of µþ³óÄå°ù²¹³Ù²¹ at the instruction of ³Õ²âÄå²õ²¹. (²Ñ²¹³óÄå²ú³óÄå°ù²¹³Ù²¹ Ä€»å¾± Parva, Chapter 60, Verse 22).
(iii) ³Õ²¹¾±Å›²¹³¾±èÄå²â²¹²Ô²¹ praised ²Ñ²¹³óÄå²ú³óÄå°ù²¹³Ù²¹ and spoke of its greatness. (²Ñ²¹³óÄå²ú³óÄå°ù²¹³Ù²¹ Ä€»å¾± Parva, Chapter 62, Stanza 12).
(iv) Once ³Õ²¹¾±Å›²¹³¾±èÄå²â²¹²Ô²¹ was overpowered by ignorance, and he killed a Brahmin. It is mentioned in ²Ñ²¹³óÄå²ú³óÄå°ù²¹³Ù²¹, ´¡²Ô³ÜÅ›Äå²õ²¹²Ô²¹ Parva, Chapter 6, Stanza 36, that in spite of it he attained heaven.
