Story of 罢颈濒辞迟迟补尘腻
A prominent celestial maiden.
Birth.
罢颈濒辞迟迟补尘腻 was born to Pradh膩, wife of 碍补艣测补辫补, grandson of 叠谤补丑尘腻 and son of 惭补谤墨肠颈. 础濒补尘产耻峁Ｄ�, 惭颈艣谤补办别艣墨, 痴颈诲测耻迟辫补谤峁嚹�, 础谤耻峁嚹�, 搁补办峁迟腻, 搁补尘产丑腻, 惭补苍辞谤补尘腻, 厂耻产腻丑耻, 碍别艣颈苍墨, Surat膩, Suraj膩 and 厂耻辫谤颈测腻 were all sisters of 罢颈濒辞迟迟补尘腻. (Chapter 65, 膧di Parva).
There is a story about the birth of 罢颈濒辞迟迟补尘腻. Two demons named Sunda and Upasunda obtained invincible powers by doing penance. To make these two brothers quarrel with each other, by directions from 叠谤补丑尘腻, 痴颈艣惫补办补谤尘腻 created 罢颈濒辞迟迟补尘腻. 痴颈艣惫补办补谤尘腻 collected from all inanimate and animate objects parts of objects beautiful to look at and created the enchanting 罢颈濒辞迟迟补尘腻. 罢颈濒辞迟迟补尘腻 was then made to come to the world through the womb of 碍补艣测补辫补鈥檚 wife. Because she was made by the til膩峁兣沘 (small particle) of all the best (uttama) articles of the world she got the name of 罢颈濒辞迟迟补尘腻. (Chapter 215, 膧di Parva).
The good girl named 罢颈濒辞迟迟补尘腻 was formerly created by 叠谤补丑尘腻 from small particles of diamonds. (艢濒辞办补 1, Chapter 141, 础苍耻艣腻蝉补苍补 Parva).
How 艢颈惫补 got four heads and Indra a thousand eyes.
When the two demon brothers Sundopasundas were creating great havoc in the world by their cruel and immoral deeds, it was 罢颈濒辞迟迟补尘腻 who was deputed by 叠谤补丑尘腻 to create a split between the brothers. On the eve of her departure to the world she went to Devaloka to bid adieu. 叠谤补丑尘腻 stood facing south and 艢颈惫补 stood facing north and 罢颈濒辞迟迟补尘腻 stood in the centre surrounded by the Devas. 罢颈濒辞迟迟补尘腻 circled round the devas worshipping them. 艢颈惫补 was enamoured of her beauty and wanted to see her always and so a face on all the four sides of his head sprang up so that he could see her always as she circled round him. Indra was also enamoured of her and he found his two eyes insufficient to enjoy her beauty. So instantly a thousand eyes sprang up in the face of Indra. (Chapter 215, 膧di Parva).
