Story of ³§³Ù³óÅ«±ô²¹Å›¾±°ù²¹²õ
General information.
A hermit. It is observed that he was alive in the ages of both ¸éÄå³¾Äå²â²¹á¹‡a and ²Ñ²¹³óÄå²ú³óÄå°ù²¹³Ù²¹.
Other details.
(i) He shone in the court of ³Û³Ü»å³ó¾±á¹£á¹³ó¾±°ù²¹. (²Ñ²¹³óÄå²ú³óÄå°ù²¹³Ù²¹ ³§²¹²ú³óÄå Parva, Chapter 4, Verse 11).
(ii) It is mentioned in ²Ñ²¹³óÄå²ú³óÄå°ù²¹³Ù²¹, Vana Parva, Chapter 135, Verse 8, that ³Û³Ü»å³ó¾±á¹£á¹³ó¾±°ù²¹ once visited his beautiful hermitage.
(iii) In olden days this hermit had performed penance on the North East side of Meru. (²Ñ²¹³óÄå²ú³óÄå°ù²¹³Ù²¹ ÅšÄå²Ô³Ù¾± Parva, Chapter 243, Verse 59).
(iv) It is mentioned in ²Ñ²¹³óÄå²ú³óÄå°ù²¹³Ù²¹, ´¡²Ô³ÜÅ›Äå²õ²¹²Ô²¹ Parva, Chapter 26, Verse 5, that this hermit ³§³Ù³óÅ«±ô²¹Å›¾±°ù²¹²õ was one of the hermits who had visited µþ³óīṣm²¹ on his bed of arrows.
(v) Kabandha became a ¸éÄå°ìá¹£a²õ²¹ (giant) because of the curse of ³§³Ù³óÅ«±ô²¹Å›¾±°ù²¹²õ. (For detailed story see under Kabandha).
