Story of 闯补峁乱耻
A bird famous in the 笔耻谤腻峁嘺蝉.
Genealogy.
Descended from 痴颈峁ａ箛耻 as follows, 叠谤补丑尘腻鈥�惭补谤墨肠颈鈥�碍补艣测补辫补鈥�础谤耻峁嘺鈥�闯补峁乱耻.
Birth.
Two sons called 厂补尘辫腻迟颈 and 闯补峁乱耻 were born to 础谤耻峁嘺. Their mother, a bird, was 艢测别苍墨. 艢测别苍墨, wife of 础谤耻峁嘺, delivered two children, 厂补尘辫腻迟颈 and the great 闯补峁乱耻 (膧di Parva, Chapter 66, Verse 71). "Know that I am the son of 础谤耻峁嘺 and 厂补尘辫腻迟颈 is my elder brother. My name is 闯补峁乱耻, and I am the son of 艢测别苍墨." (痴腻濒尘墨办颈 搁腻尘腻测补苍补, Canto 14, Verse 32). But, according to Kamba 搁腻尘腻测补峁嘺, the name of the mother of 厂补尘辫腻迟颈 and 闯补峁乱耻 was Mah膩艣vet膩. (碍颈峁颈苍诲丑腻 碍腻峁囜笉补). Perhaps, 艢测别苍墨 was also known as Mah膩艣vet膩.
闯补峁乱耻 flies towards 厂奴谤测补.
厂补尘辫腻迟颈 and 闯补峁乱耻, once under a bet flew up towards the sun. 闯补峁乱耻 outflew 厂补尘辫腻迟颈, and in the exuberance of youth entered 厂奴谤测补鈥檚 orbit at noon time with the result that, due to the excessive heat his wings were scorched. At this 厂补尘辫腻迟颈, to save his brother, flew up higher than 闯补峁乱耻 and spread out his wings like an umbrella over 闯补峁乱耻 with the result that 厂补尘辫腻迟颈鈥檚 wings were burnt, and he fell down somewhere on the Vindhya mountains. He spent the rest of his life under the protection of a sage called 狈颈艣腻办补谤补 who was performing penance on the mountains. After their tragic meeting in 厂奴谤测补ma峁囜笉ala 厂补尘辫腻迟颈 and 闯补峁乱耻 never again met in their life. (痴腻濒尘墨办颈 搁腻尘腻测补峁嘺, 碍颈峁颈苍诲丑腻 碍腻峁囜笉补, Chapter 58; Kamba 搁腻尘腻测补峁嘺, 碍颈峁颈苍诲丑腻 碍腻峁囜笉补).
Fought with 搁腻惫补峁嘺.
闯补峁乱耻 clashed with 搁腻惫补峁嘺, who was carrying away 厂墨迟腻dev墨 in his 惫颈尘腻苍补, and in the fierce fight that they fought in the air, 搁腻惫补峁嘺 cut off 闯补峁乱耻鈥檚 wings and thus felled him on the earth, almost dead. (痴腻濒尘墨办颈 搁腻尘腻测补峁嘺, 础谤补峁噛补 碍腻峁囜笉补, Chapter 51).
Death.
搁腻尘补 and 尝补办峁补峁嘺 during their search in the forest for 厂墨迟腻 came upon 闯补峁乱耻 lying without wings almost dead and reciting 搁腻尘补鈥檚 name. 闯补峁乱耻 described to 搁腻尘补 how 搁腻惫补峁嘺 had carried away 厂墨迟腻 and how he had tried to stop him and fought with him. After giving this account he died. 搁腻尘补 and 尝补办峁补峁嘺 lit a fire and cremated 闯补峁乱耻. The great bird鈥檚 soul attained salvation. (Kamba 搁腻尘腻测补峁嘺).
