Story of Ҵdzī
(ŚĪ). A celebrated river of Purāṇic fame. This is worshipped as a goddess.
The curse.
ṃp 峾ⲹṇa states that this river was Kauśikī, sister of վś峾ٰ. She became a river by a curse.
Kauśikī was married to a sage called Ṛcī첹. Once Ṛcī첹 went to devaloka to see . Kauśikī unable to bear the separation followed her husband by her power of chastity. On the way Ṛcī첹 saw her and cursed her and made her into a river. From that day onwards she started running as a river named Kauśikī. See under Kauśikī. ( ṇḍ, ī쾱 峾ⲹṇa).

i) Śrī Rāma conducted the ś yāga at Naimiśāraṇya on the banks of this river. (Uttara 峾ⲹṇa).
ii) The sins of those who drink the water of this river are washed away. (Śǰ첹 20, Chapter 169, Ādi Parva).
iii) The ī of Ҵdzī river lives in the court of ղṇa worshipping him. (Śǰ첹 23, Chapter 9, Parva).
iv) Dharmaputra came to this river during his pilgrimage. (Śǰ첹 2, Chapter 95, Vana Parva).
v) Ҵdzī is the wife of Agnideva called վśܰ. (Śǰ첹 19, Chapter 219, Vana Parva).
vi) This is one of the most important rivers of ٲṣa. (Śǰ첹 18, Chapter 9, īṣm Parva).
vii) The land of پǻ, King of ǻ, extended from the shores of Ҳṅg to the base of Ҵdzī. (ṇḍa ʳܰṇa, Chapter 2).
