of अतिशयोक्ति [پśǰپ ] of Udbhata are :
(1) भेदेऽनन्यत्वम् � [bhede'nanyatvam | ] Imposing sameness where there is
difference in reality.
(2) अन्यत्� (अभेद�) नानात्वम� � [anyatra (abhede) nānātvam | ] Imagining difference where
there is really no difference.
(3) संभाव्यमानार्थनिबन्ध� � [saṃbhāvyamānārthanibandha� | ] Describing some imaginary
thing [which is really impossible].

Mammata's अतिशयोक्ति [پśǰپ] ;
because in both the varieties one thing (a) is described
as another thing. The first variety of Mammaṭa viz.

] does not find place in Ubdhata's classification. The third
and fourth divisions of Udbhata correspond to the same
divisions of Mammata. The second variety of Mammaṭa
is प्रस्तुतस्� यदन्यत्व� [prastutasya yadanyatva� ] and it is equal to the first two varieties of
Udbhata. यद्यर्थोक्तो � कल्पनम� [yadyarthokto va kalpanam ] of Mammata is Udbhata's सभाव्य-
मानार्� निबन्ध. [屹ⲹ-
mānārtha nibandha. ] The full description of अतिशयोक्ति [پśǰپ ] given by Mam-
