भासारूढो बुधः स्मृतः
गीष्पतिः कृष्णसार-स्थः
शुक्रो गव�-वाहन�
maṅgalo vanarārūḍho
bhāsārūḍho ܻ� smṛta�
gīṣpati� ṛṣṇa-stha�
śukro gavaya-vāhana�
ṅg��the ruler of the planet mars; Բ-ūḍh��riding on a gorilla; -ūḍhḥ�riding on a rooster; ܻ��the ruler of the planet mercury; ṛtḥ�considered; īṣpپḥ�the ruler of the planet jupiter; ṛṣṇa-ٳḥ�riding on a black-deer; śܰḥ�the ruler of the planet Venus; gavaya-Բḥ�riding on an ox.
English translation of verse 1.12.47:
The ruler of the planet Mars came riding on a gorilla. The ruler of the planet Mercury came riding on a rooster. The ruler of the planet Jupiter came riding on a black stag. The ruler of the planet Venus came riding on an ox.
