Photo 472 of 640 in Gallery: Sculptures in temples in Kumbakonam

Image title: Figure 20. A dancer standing with one leg kept on the wall
Description of the photo
This marvelous sculpture shows a girl standing with right Pada in Sama, right leg is straight and unbent, right Uru is in Stambhana, right Janu is in Sama. The left leg is lifted and folded backwards and is placed on the wall. Siras is in Ancita, Urah is in Sama, right Kati is in Udvahita, left Uru is in Valana, left Jangha is in Parivrtta. Right hand seems to be in Arala (not clear) and left hand is in Uru Hasta. Cannot identify any Cari or Karana. Seems to be more of a static pose. We can also see her
hair which is tied high and falling in style. Her big earrings are also visible. Not a very clear sculpture. The sculpture is a little eroded with time.
