Nepal various Arts (NMN) [Photo gallery]
These photos represent various sculptures and other artworks from Nepal, such as the Wooden Arts of Kumari Ghar. The objects are exhibited in the National Museum of Nepal (Kathmandu), also known as the Rashtriya Museum. This gallery also houses a few art objects and some bronzes which represent the art and craft of the northern Himalayas.
Nepal is the only country in the world, where the Cult of Living Goddess is alive. The Nepali Cult of female energy originated during the medieval period and is still continued in Nepal. The female energy reaches fascinating climax when she is worshipped in the form of a human goddess—the living Kumari. There is a special home/temple for the dwelling of Kumari at Basantapur, Kathmandu. She is placed there in splendid isolation from parents, home society under the customary rules and regulation. The Kumari has been a matter of curiosity and fascination for visitors from within and abroad. The wood-work of the Kumari Ghar (home) also enchants the visitors.
This gallery has displayed the miniature replica of the splendid wood work of the Kuman Ghar, Basantapur. These beautiful and superb wood carvings can be seen in the interior chowk (courtyard) and outer face of in Kumari Ghar. The beautiful wood work remembered the magnificent wood carving craftsmanship of Nepali artists
